What is Guided Wave Radar?
The guided wave radar transmitter is based on TDR (time domain reflectometry) technology. The “TDR” uses pulses of electromagnetic energy transmitted by a waveguide (probe). When a pulse hits a liquid surface that has a higher dielectric constant than air (er = 1), a fraction of the pulse is reflected. Pulse transit time is measured through ultra-speed timing circuits that provide an accurate measurement of liquid level. Pulse transit time is then measured through high-speed timing circuits that provide an accurate measurement of the liquid (or solids) level.
