Find out more about Nikkiso
see brand productsNikkiso is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of cryogenic pumps. The company traces its roots to Japan in the early 1950s, when it began manufacturing metering pumps. In 1982, it started producing submerged motor cryogenic pumps and, in 1987, it acquired J.C. Carter’s technology for this type of equipment. Today, the business is part of the Nikkiso Clean Energy & Industrial Gases Group, formed in 2019 and owned by Nikkiso Co., Ltd., which is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. The group employs more than 1,800 people in over 20 countries.
The cryogenic pump portfolio covers two product lines. Nikkiso ACD, founded in California in the 1950s to build liquid oxygen pumps, supplies centrifugal pumps for trailer off-loading, storage transfer and process service, as well as reciprocating pumps for cylinder filling and high-pressure duty. Nikkiso Cryo builds submerged motor pumps for LNG, LPG, ethylene, liquid nitrogen and propylene. In many installations, these pumps exceed 20,000 hours between overhauls, and some have recorded more than 40,000 hours.
The equipment serves air separation plants, liquid oxygen, nitrogen and argon distribution, LNG and refrigerated LPG terminals, ship bunkering, CO₂ recovery and hydrogen projects. More than 50 LNG-fueled ships run on ACD pumps, more than any other brand. Every pump undergoes performance testing at full speed, power and flow, using LNG, LPG or liquid nitrogen, at the factories in the United States and Japan. The units follow API and ASME standards and hold ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certification.
